Privacy Policy

We at Hobbs law LLP are the “controllers” of the information we collect about you, (known as “personal data”) under the General Data Protection Regulations and the Data Protection Act 2018. This notice explains why and how we process your data and the rights you have around your data.
  • We will only collect information from you that is relevant to the contract or service that we are dealing with. Examples of personal data which we may collect are, identity details, personal details, financial details, family, lifestyle and social circumstances, business activities, physical or mental health details
  • The basis upon which we will process your personal data is one or more of the following:
    • It is necessary for the performance of the contract with you
    • It is necessary for us to comply with a legal obligation
    • It is in our legitimate interests to do so
    • You have given your consent (which can be withdrawn)
  • Generally we will only share your information with your consent, but we may share with third parties for processing purposes, such as:
    • Our IT system providers
    • Financial and quality auditors
    • Debt collection agencies if you do not pay our bills
  • We will keep your data for a minimum of six years and perhaps longer, as stated in our terms of business
  • Your data may be stored in both hard copy and electronic formats
  • We shall endeavour to ensure that all the data you provide is kept secure at all times
  • In the event of a breach of personal data we have in place procedures to minimise the effects of such a breach and shall liaise with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) and with you, as appropriate
  • You have the following rights:
    • to be informed about how your data is handled
    • to gain access to your personal data (requests to be made in writing and our response usually to be be made free of charge within 30 days.  We reserve the right  however to charge a reasonable administration fee and to extend this period by a further two months if the request is very complex, or vexatious)
    • to have errors or inacuracies in your data changed
    • to have your data erased, (unless we are required to retain by law or regulation, or to exercise or defend a claim)
    • to restrict the processing of your personal data
    • to object to the processing of your data
    • to data portability, and
    • not to be subject to automated decision-making and profiling
